Community Youth Work

WAM Youth has run community youth groups Winchcombe since 2013.  We now also support Winchcombe Youth Council and a local Youth Volunteering Group as well as running extra workshops and events throughout the year. Scroll down for details!

COVID-19

We are currently able to meet face to face, as safely and responsibly as possible. Regular changes to lockdown and tier restrictions mean we have had to keep changing the ways that we meet young people, but we have done our best to maintain relationships and to offer continuous support. Our staff and volunteers are working within our COVID-19 risk assessment and guidance. We are regularly reviewing this guidance in line with National Youth Agency Advice and Guidance (www.nya.org.uk).

Please abstain from sending your child to our sessions if they display any Covid-19 symptoms.

Youth Groups

WAM Youth groups provide a fun time of activities, sports and games.

We are no longer meeting in the Old Boys School while Gloucestershire County Council are reviewing the building for Health & Safety purposes. They have communicated to us their intent that the building be re-let for Youth and Community use in the future, however we do not know when this will be. In the meantime, we will be meeting weekly during term time in the following location:

School years 7-11 meet on Tuesdays 4-5.30pm @ The St Peter's Centre, Winchcombe.

If you would like your child to attend, please fill out a digital consent form below.  You can also contact info@wamyouth.org.uk for more information!

Youth Volunteering Group

A group of local young people decided they wanted to volunteer but because they are under 16 years old were finding it difficult to find places where they could help! So they came to us and we helped them to set up a youth volunteering group. If you are a young person looking for a volunteering opportunity or if you have an idea for something that young people could help out with please get in touch with us at info@wamyouth.org.uk.

Winchcombe Youth Council

In May 2021 we set up a Youth Council in Winchcombe. Although still in its early days the Youth Council has a non-voting seat on Winchcombe Town Council and is working on a couple of projects, the first being a Youth Cinema Club.  If you would like to know more about how to join the Youth Council or what they do please get in touch with The Secretary at secretary@winchcombeyouthcouncil.info.

Workshops and Specialist Interest Groups

Previously we have run smaller groups that are based around a particular area of interest. E.g in the past we’ve run a book group, girls groups, code club wilderness club, wellbeing group.

As part of our community consultation, we’re identifying people within the community who can run workshops and specialist sessions for young people.  Watch this space for information about these specialist events.
