Community Youth Work

WAM Youth has run community youth group, elev8, at Encounter Church in Winchcombe since 2013.

COVID-19

For all of these sessions, please abstain from sending your child if they display any Covid-19 symptoms. Otherwise, please send them with a mask (which as a youth group as are obliged to wear inside except for sports and eating & drinking) and a reminder of the importance of social distancing!

Regular changes to lockdown and tier restrictions mean we need to keep changing the ways that we meet young people, but we are doing our best to maintain relationships and to offer continuous support. Our staff and volunteers are working within our COVID-19 risk assessment and guidance. We are regularly reviewing this guidance in line with National Youth Agency Advice and Guidance (www.nya.org.uk).

Youth Groups

After a couple of trips to the WAM Woods before Easter, WAM Youth groups (school years 6-8) are now meeting at The Old Boys School in Winchcombe on Tuesday evenings from 6pm!

We have a pool table, table tennis table, football, games, crafts, and some drinks and snacks available. We also have use of the Sports Hall for an hour. At this point in the school year if you're towards the end of year 5 you are welcome too!

Workshops and Specialist Interest Groups

Previously we have run smaller groups that are based around a particular area of interest. E.g in the past we’ve run a book group, girls groups, code club wilderness club, wellbeing group.

As part of our community consultation, we’re identifying people within the community who can run workshops and specialist sessions for young people.  Watch this space for information about these specialist events.
